In Eastern Churches, Saint Michael, one of the seven Archangels, is referred to as “Archistrategos,” the chief general of God’s army. This is because he cast away Satan from heaven in their first battle and fought the power of evil in Biblical times.
He is a fierce warrior who defends and protects the world against evil. He was mentioned in the Bible a couple of times.
And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war, and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven. (Revelation 12:7-8)

The Prayer of St Michael the Archangel in Latin and English (Short Version)
In 1886, Pope Leo XIII envisioned demonic spirits assembling in Rome. The vision left a great impression on Pope Leo XIII, which urged him to write The Prayer of Saint Michael.
St Michael the Archangel Prayer short version was usually prayed by the Catholic church. At the end of the 19th Century, Pope Leo XIII ordered this prayer to be recited by all Catholic Churches in the world after the Low Mass.
Twenty years later, he wrote the exorcism prayer and suggested to the bishops to pray it often in their dioceses and parishes to cast away evil.

O glorious Prince of the Heavenly host, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and fearful warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come thou to the assistance of men, whom Almighty God created immortal, making them in His own image and likeness and redeeming them at a great price from the tyranny of Satan. Fight this day the battle of the Lord with thy legions of holy Angels, even as of old thou didst fight against Lucifer, the leader of the proud spirits and all his rebel angels, who were powerless to stand against thee, neither was their place found any more in heaven. And that great dragon was cast forth, the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who seduces the whole world; and he was cast forth upon Earth, and his angels were sent with him.
But behold! the ancient enemy of mankind and a murderer from the beginning has been fiercely aroused. Changing himself into an angel of light, he goes about with the whole multitude of the wicked spirits to invade the earth and blot out the Name of God and of His Christ, to plunder, to slay, and to consign to eternal damnation the souls that have been destined for a crown of everlasting life.
